List of verified voters to be displayed on March 26

RAWALPINDI: The lists of verified voters would be displayed at the centres to be set up at 199 prominent places including schools and colleges of the division and offices of registration officers, assistant registration officers and display centers at circle level on March 26, while 32 revising authorities have also been appointed for Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum to receive objections.

Rawalpindi District Election Commissioner Malik Saleem Akhtar talking to APP informed that the lists would be displayed for around a month, up to April 24. 36 days would be given from March 26 to April 30 for disposal of claims/objections and applications for corrections which can be submitted until April 30.

The final lists would be displayed in May at the office of district election commissioner.

Saleem Akhtar said that the voters’ verification process is being completed to finalise arrangements for upcoming general elections and all-out efforts would be made to complete the campaign by May 20.

According to district election commission office, presently, there are over 2.95 million voters registered in Rawalpindi district including 1.57 million males and 1.37 females. The new voters are being registered and the names of the people who have died are being removed from the electoral lists.

As many as 29 assistant registration officers and 2,221 verification officers had been assigned the task.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed revising authorities and finalised their jurisdictions. There will be five revising authorities for Chakwal district, four for district Jhelum, six for Attock district and 17 revising authorities have been appointed for district Rawalpindi who would receive and decide claims, objections and applications for correction of electoral rolls.

He further said that the citizens can verify their names in voter lists by sending an SMS with their identity card numbers on 8300 and mobile App ‘ClickECP’ can also be downloaded to get further details. He advised the citizens to use Form-15 for vote transfer, Form-16 to delete the name from the voter list and Form-17 for data correction, which will be available at the display centres and at ECP website.

The filled forms can be submitted at the display centres before the deadline, he added.
