ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that the process of accepting objections on delimitation would continue till April 3.
According to ECP, after expiry of the last date, the objections would be submitted before the commission under the law.
ECP said that it had established a facilitation centre at the ECP Secretariat for the submission of objections and facilitation of the people regarding the initial delimitation of national and provincial assemblies.
It said that five teams had been constituted to receive the objections pertaining to all four provinces, federation and FATA in the office hours.
ECP also said that that it had continued receiving objections on the delimitation from across the country.
It said that the commission had also launched the details of objections on proposed delimitation of the constituencies along with proposed maps by the petitioners on its website for public convenience and transparency.
ECP further said that this facility will be helpful to all stakeholders to understand and get informed about current status and ongoing activities regarding the delimitation of constituencies.
14,487 display centres to be set up across the country:
The ECP would start setting up 14,487 display centres from Monday across the country.
According to details, the display centres would be established for registration, correction or removal of names from voters’ lists. The 7,928 display centres would be set up in Punjab, 2,585 in Sindh, 2,545 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1,429 in Balochistan.
The commission had included the names of all those in voters’ lists who received their national identity card from 2013 to 2018. 8,100,000 new voters had been registered and the names of 800,000 voters had been removed from the voters’ lists while the draft voters’ list contained around 104 million voters.
The commission updated its 8300 short message service (SMS) and asked the voters to check the details of their vote registration by sending an SMS with CNIC number to 8300.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza said that the registration of the country’s youth besides men and women as voters was essential as their participation was necessary in the democratic process.
He said that it was a chance for them to register as voters before the 2018 general elections.
