Mother ‘chokes children’ to death near Bedian

LAHORE: Three minors were killed in a locality near the Bedian area of the city on Saturday, reported a private media outlet.

According to the local police, all three were strangled to death by their mother, Anika.

Police told that upon reaching Anika’s house they found her sitting on a sofa with marks on her wrist after which they suspected the woman to be the children’s murderer considering her a person with mental disabilities, however, the mother accused a friend of hers of the killings.

The bodies of the three slain were sent for postmortem while the police have started investigating the incident.

According to reports, the police have also arrested a man, Hussain, whom Anika accused of killing her children.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also taken notice of the incident and sought a report on it.

It is worth mentioning that the incident is not the first of its kind as parents killing their children has a common occurrence in the country. Earlier in 2017, a man killed his two-year-old daughter with a sharp-edged instrument following an altercation with his wife.

Moreover, a man was arrested last year for drowning his five-year-old daughter with disabilities in Multan. Similarly, on December 2, 2017, a woman, frustrated by unemployment, had tried to suffocate her three children to death near Hafizabad.
