KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday adjourned hearing of the anti-state speech case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain till April 21.
During the hearing, leaders of MQM-Pakistan, as well as the London faction, appeared before the court. Farooq Sattar, Qamar Mansoor, Amjadullah Khan, Shahid Pasha and others attended the hearing.
The prosecutor presented a report on the death of Professor Hassan Zafar, a nominated accused from MQM-L in the case.
The court adjourned further proceedings till April 21.
The cases against MQM leaders were registered in Azizabad police station after MQM founder uttered remarks against the state and its institutions on August 22, 2016, during his telephonic speech.
Last year, an ATC issued an arrest warrant of founder Muttahida Qaumi Movement in cases pertaining to the controversial speech delivered by him on July 5, 2016.
Authorities in Pakistan had claimed Hussain described the country as a “cancer” and incited his followers to attack two media stations that he accused of bias.
