Woman injured in IED blast outside house in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A woman was injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) went off outside a house late on Thursday night in the Bashirabad area of Pajjagi Road.

According to details, the house was targeted in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad Police Station in what appears to be an extortion-related case. The woman received minor injuries as pieces of glass hit her following the blast.

The owner further said that the well-known spice dealer in the area had been receiving threats from extortionists.

The police officials and a bomb disposal unit reached the area shortly after the explosion.

Further investigation of the incident is underway.

Last month, three people were injured in a roadside bomb attack targeting the car of a senior government official on Peshawar’s Ring Road. An IED planted in a motorcycle went off as the vehicle of deputy director of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) drove past in Dir Colony, according to details.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Jamaatul Ahrar faction had claimed responsibility for the attack.
