IGFC calls sacrifices of SWA tribesmen highly commendable

WANA: Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Abid Latif has said that sacrifices of tribal people of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) and their unflinching support to the armed forces in the elimination of terrorism were praiseworthy.

The tribesmen played key role in flushing out terrorists from their areas, said the IGFC during a grand jirga of the tribal elders of Mehsud, Wazir, Barki, Dotani and Suleman Khel tribes here. He recalled that the tribal also played a brilliant role in freedom of Azad Jammu Kashmir and their sacrifices in chasing terrorists along with the security forces were highly lauded.

Major General Latif said that he was not oblivious to problems facing the South Waziristan Agency, adding these problems would be addressed gradually with the passage of time. He said that efforts were underway to bring more improvement in the check posts in the agency. He said that efforts were afoot to remove backwardness of the agency.

Dera Ismail Khan Commissioner Abdul Ghafoor Baig, Commandant Colonel Muhammad Ijaz, Political Agent Suhail Khan, APA Muhammad Naibuddin, APO Akhlaq Ahmed and APA Kamran Khattak were present on the occasion. Tribal elder Malik Masood Ahmed Mehsud said that problems of the agency would be resolved through joint efforts.

“We have to forget the past to move forward. We have to rehab the displaced families on war footings,” he said. The commissioner said that all the government offices in the agency would be reactivated soon to address problems of the local people.
