Elderly man gunned down in ‘targeted’ attack

KARACHI: Unknown gunmen shot dead an elderly man in the Sachal area of the metropolitan in a suspected ‘sectarian’ attack late on Thursday.

The gunmen riding a motorcycle fired at Ameer Ali, 70, his young nephew Ali Raza, 28 and a grandson, Ali Asghar, outside their residence in Karachi, opposite the Memon Medical Institute near Safoora Chowrangi. The assailants managed to escape after the attack.

As a result, all the three persons were severely wounded. They were taken to the nearby hospital, where Ameer Ali was pronounced dead whereas his nephew and grandson were admitted for treatment, Sachal SHO Shakir Ali told the publication.

Later on, the deceased’s body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil legal formalities. Additional police surgeon Dr Aijaz Ali Khowaja said the victim sustained three bullet wounds.
