CHITRAL: Two youngsters including a teenage girl and a boy committed suicide for various reasons in different areas of tehsil Mastuj of Chitral.
Police said that 14-year-old Tayyeba Bibi, daughter of Syed Ghaffar Shah, a resident of Booni, was frustrated due to maltreatment of her stepmother and ended her life by jumping into River Chitral. Earlier the girl had also escaped from the house due to brutality and torture of the stepmother but was later rescued from the house of a female teacher.
Another youth Muhammad Hussain 19, son of Zamurad Khan hailing from Brok village of Laspur Valley, committed suicide by shooting himself inside his house. The teenager was not interested in continuing his education but the family was stressing him to do so, prompting him to commit suicide.
The bodies were shifted to a hospital and the police, after registering separate cases into both incidents, started the investigation.
It is worth mentioning here that 18 suicide cases have been reported from different areas of Chitral during last six months and the people of the district have expressed grave concern over the situation.
