RAWALPINDI: A ten-day Spring Festival was kicked off on Thursday at Nawaz Sharif Park, which is organised by PHA.
Talking to APP, PHA Director Admin and Finance Bilal Rauf said that the festival is a healthy activity organised for the residents of twin cities. The festival, he said, is only for families, adding, female staff on all stalls and security personnel are present to facilitate the participants.
Bilal said that the event is something beyond recreation to provide a unique platform to women for having health, education, entertainment and other amusement facilities without any charge. He added that special health-care stalls have been set-up to educate women on different health issues, skin care programme and consultations with expert doctors.
The programme includes ladies’ gala, self-defence workshop, kitchen gardening, fitness, musical show, handicraft, book exhibition, face-painting, food court, traditional cuisine, shopping area, magical show and daily lucky draw.
He further said reputed welfare organisations, particularly Edhi, Pakistan Sweet Homes, Shaukat Khanum Hospital, have been invited to participate in the gala for fundraising for their institutions.
Bilal further said that the authority has been promoting a healthy environment, adding PHA since its inception has made the city green and attractive by maintaining greenbelts, various roads and public parks.
To a question, he said that the entry is free for visitors to enjoy the gala and urged the citizens to join the event.
Eman, a visitor told APP that the lighting, beautification and various decorated stalls have turned the park into a beautiful spot. She further said that the healthcare, fitness, books stalls, food court and shopping area were commendable as people were enjoying a lot on these spots.
