PESHAWAR – The chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Sami (JUI-S) Sami-ul-Haq expressed his outrage over the fact that more loyalists of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) have been upset about Aamir Liaquat Hussain than there were over him.

While Hussain formally joined the PTI on Monday, the Imran Khan led party’s alliance with Sami-ul-Haq and his seminary Darul Uloom Haqqani goes back at least a couple of years, with the party backing the JUI-S for Senate as recently as earlier this month.

“Yes, I might not be formally a member of the PTI and just an ally, and yes Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain is indeed a controversial figure, one can argue that I deserve more outrage considering that the range of the kind of damage that I can do,” Sami said in an exclusive interview with The Dependent.

“Fine, I might be no snake or reptile, but the kinds of people being upset and the allegations that they were throwing at Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain made me feel, as though they mightn’t be aware of who I am and what my CV in the field of extremism in this region is,” added Sami, who is known fondly as the ‘Father of the Taliban’.

PTI insiders confirm that Sami-ul-Haq’s reservations have been shared with Imran Khan, who will soon begin a campaign to highlight the JUI-S chief’s portfolio.

“This would allow some more wannabes to withdraw their support for the PTI,” a close aide of Imran Khan said to The Dependent.
