KARACHI: A man was gunned down in Karachi by armed assailants on Thursday afternoon after his car came under attack.

The incident took place near Safoora Chowrangi. According to the initial investigation of police, the unknown men who were pillion riders attacked the vehicle and shot indiscriminately resulting in three injured, including one minor.

One of the three, a 70-year-old resident of New Rizvia Society, succumbed to injuries and died. His body was shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre. The other two injured survived and are currently under medical treatment.

Sachal police SHO Shakir Ali told that the attackers escaped after the incident.

While the Sachal SHO called it a case of robbery, Malir SSP Adeel Chandio hinted that the crime could be sectarian-related. Chandio said, “It appears to be a targeted killing linked with sectarianism.”

Sindh Inspector General Police A.D. Khowaja took notice of the murder and asked the Malir SSP to submit a report of the incident.
