LONDON: There has yet to be a couple which has had more drama than boxing champion Amir Khan and his model wife, Faryal Makhdoom. From almost divorces and reconciliations to claims of domestic abuse and altercations between Amir, Faryal and his parents, their stormy relationship has been nothing short of a Star Plus drama and has had us wondering when their life would be documented in the form of a TV show.
If latest reports are to be believed, it appears that our wishes might just be fulfilled earlier than we thought. According to leading British daily, The Sun, the couples’ drama has caught the eye of a British entertainment channel which has reportedly approached them for their own reality series.
A source claimed, “ITV bosses think Amir would make more great telly if he did a fly-on-the-wall series with them.”
It is said that the series will follow the pair, who wed in 2013, as they try to reconcile their relationship following their public war of words and claims of infidelity on Twitter.
“Amir is a character and they think viewers would be very interested in seeing how he is with Faryal and their daughter behind closed doors,” the source further added.
Amir and Faryal have had a rocky relationship since they married in 2013.
The boxer has faced numerous allegations of cheating and last August he suddenly announced on Twitter that he was divorcing Faryal over false claims that she was messaging fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.
The pair reconciled just days before Amir entered the jungle for I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
After a heated exchange of words between the boxer and Faryal, the couple eventually announced that they have called off the divorce. Amir thereby confessed that he couldn’t go through with the divorce while Faryal is still pregnant “because it’s banned in Islam when the girl is pregnant.”
He added, “I’ve learned my lesson. It was a wake-up call for us both and it will only make us stronger. I think we will be married forever.”
Amir further stated, “I definitely have more appreciation for my little girl and my wife Faryal, because I wasn’t around them. I was so far away. I missed them like crazy.”
