Suicide bomber kills at least 26 near shrine in Afghan capital

KABUL: A suicide bomber blew himself up near a Shi’ite shrine in Kabul on Wednesday, killing at least 26 people and wounding 18, officials said, as the Afghan capital celebrated the Nawruz holiday marking the start of the Persian new year.

Nasrat Rahimi, Deputy Interior Ministry Spokesman, said the bomber blew himself up near the Kart-e Sakhi shrine, a target of previous militant attacks. The latest explosion to hit Kabul underlined the threat to the city from militant attacks despite government promises to tighten security in the wake of an attack in January that killed around 100 people.

Wednesday’s blast, the latest in a series to have hit Shi’ite targets in Kabul, came as people were walking away from the shrine, near the city’s main university.

Nawruz, an ancient Persian celebration of the start of spring, is widely celebrated in Afghanistan but has also faced opposition from some Islamist groups, who say it is un-Islamic.

Afghans killing Afghans, Iraqis killing Iraqis, Syrians killing Syrians, Yemenis killing Yemenis, Somalis killing Somalis, Libyans killing Libyans is triumph for ,Shaitaan .
Peace reigns where people obey the Lord.
What more, in this day and age of fast communications, literate, educated, highly educated people calling themselves Muslims and under no compulsion to obey any man, can be seen to be opting to be misguided by obeying erring men than the Lord. These people have available to them all the proof of what is Lord’s command.
