LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core committee member Senator Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Wednesday said that those who were chanting slogans of ‘sanctity of vote’ must first be held accountable for their corruption.

Speaking to delegations that called on him at his office, Sarwar said that corruption was the “biggest public target killing” and no thief could escape accountability by making hue and cry.

He said that the parliament must be cleaned from corrupt politicians on a perpetual basis.

“The nation and PTI are united against corruption and stand by the state institutions,” he added.

Sarwar further said that problems like corruption, looting, bad governance, unemployment and terrorism existed due to the incompetence of rulers. “Corruption is akin to cancer in this country and Pakistan must be cleaned from corruption, looting and plundering of corrupt politicians,” he added.

The PTI leader said that it was a responsibility of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other institutions to carry out across-the-board accountability, and if the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leadership was innocent, they should prove it.

Sarwar claimed that the PTI in the upcoming elections would not only clean sweep in Punjab but the whole country.
