Police fail to trace molesters of minor boy in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police are clueless as there is no witness and CCTV footage available to identify the culprit who allegedly molested a minor boy in a village near Golra Shrine on Tuesday.

Police told Pakistan Today that the three-year-old boy, Rehan Ali, is very mystified and is not able to express his feelings. The boy’s father, Shahid Ali, in an application submitted to Islamabad police, said that he was home in Meerako – a village in the jurisdiction of Golra police station – when the child was playing outside his home when unidentified men took him to fields and assaulted him.

The family immediately reported the incident to the Golra police, after which a case has been registered under Section 377 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against unidentified persons.

Police said that the medical examination confirmed that the child had been assaulted.

Golra police Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Razzaq said that they had apprehended two persons on the suspicion of a crime and were interrogating them. “The DNA samples from the suspects would be collected and sent to the lab. It takes 15-20 working days to check if the samples match with the medical report or not,” he said, adding that the child could not tell who, or how many culprits were involved in the heinous act.

While talking to Pakistan Today, Investigation Officer (IO) SI Muhammad Shehbaz said that the child did not know the name of the culprit and only remembered him by calling him his ‘uncle’. “Further investigation is underway and the culprit would be nabbed soon,” he vowed.

It is pertinent to mention that a 12-year-old girl was also allegedly raped and killed in a Katchi Abadi, near Sector F-11, on March 7, and the police had successfully arrested two men involved in the crime.
