Sikandar Sherpao says KP govt’s ill-planning made people’s lives miserable

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao harshly criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led provincial government for making the lives of the KP masses miserable with ill-planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

Addressing a public gathering here on Sunday in Shaheen Muslim Town, Peshawar, the QWP leader said that the delay in the development project had provoked serious concerns from the foreign construction company for the several changes made in the design.

People from other political parties also announced to join QWP on the occasion.  The new entrants entrusted their confidence in the leadership and believed that the QWP was the only party left in the province which serves the masses in real terms and it was the last hope for the people of KP.

Sikandar Sherpao welcomed the newcomers and asked them to work on the manifesto of the party and extend their services for the general public welfare.

He went on to say that the BRT initiative of the PTI led government was based on bad faith as it was delayed after keeping in view the election outcomes in mind for personal gains. He added that the project was an election campaign only which was not in the interests of people of the province.

The QWP leader also said that the ill-planned project had made the lives of the citizens miserable while the completion of the project within time was impossible. He lamented that due to a lack of proper planning, the provincial government had turned the city of flowers into a filthy and dirty city.

Sherpao also said that BRT had caused billions of loss to the provincial exchequer, which had already spent on ‘beautification’ of Peshawar. He added that the real face of the PTI leadership had been exposed to the people.

Terming the provincial government incapable and inefficient, Sherpao asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to prioritise the investigations against the KP chief minister and some other ministers of the provincial government on the charges of corruption to expose them before the public.

“The chairmen of several institutions have issued charge-sheet against the KP government,” he said, adding, “But when their own chief minister and some other ministers were found involved in corrupt practices, the powers of those institutions were curtailed through legislation.”

Sherpao vowed to strive hard for the rights of Pakhtuns to ensure their progress and development. He said that QWP had emerged as the lone voice for the rights of the oppressed, which is why the people were mostly relying on it.
