KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday stated that Karachi’s biggest issue is its “powerless” local government.

Addressing media in Karachi, PTI chief further said: “The local government of Sindh (on the whole) not being empowered is the biggest issue of Karachi.” adding, people who come into power in Sindh are never interested in Karachi.

He claimed that money of people has been sent to Dubai by rulers.

Earlier, Imran Khan cirticised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto stating that Bilawal does not know how a hardworking person in the country earns his bread and butter.

While talking to media after reaching Karachi, Khan said that Bilawal had made tall claims but in reality, he is unaware of the real issues of common people.

The PTI chief sought to inform reporters that the inquiry report of the committee formed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on problems in Karachi had revealed that drinking water in the city was contaminated with sewerage waste.

“There are 650 places in the city which are supplying this polluted water to citizens,” Imran was reported as saying.

Imran Khan also took a jibe at PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto, stating that he wanted to ask ‘Baby Bhutto’ as to why the PPP government had not resolved the water issue despite being in power in the province for almost ten years now.

“Please tell me about one thing that you have improved in Karachi or interior part of Sindh during the last ten years,” he added.

Imran also said that Bhutto should ask his father as to how he became very rich, adding that PPP had struggled to fulfill the basic needs of the common man during its tenure.

He further said the chief justice of Pakistan would not have given one week’s notice to clean Karachi, had there been any work done by PPP in the city. “In the last 10 years, what work has been done by PPP in Karachi and interior Sindh,” Imran asked.

Khan was referring to the statement by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, who expressed anger over heaps of garbage in the city. “I don’t know how but clean the city. I don’t want to see trash on streets of Karachi anymore,” the chief justice stated.
