PTI women hurl eggs, tomatoes at Ayesha Gulalai in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Gulalai (PTI-G) founder and Member National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai was attacked by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) women wing workers, who hurled eggs and tomatoes on the federal lawmaker as she arrived at a hotel in Bahawalpur on Friday evening.

Gulalai was invited to Bahawalpur by Suba Bahawalpur Bahali Tehreek (SBBT) activists.

In response to the ‘go Gulalai go’ chants by PTI members, activists of the SBBT shouted ‘go Imran go’ and ‘ro [cry] Imran ro [cry]’.

Talking to the media after the incident, the MNA said that she did not want to comment on the people chanting ‘go Gulalai go.’

“They are not at fault; they are my brothers and sisters,” she stated.

Earlier in February, Ayesha Gulalai announced her own political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Gulalai (PTI-G) after announcing her separation from PTI in August. She had levelled allegations of harassment and corruption against PTI chief Imran Khan. Relations between Gulalai and the party leadership have since turned sour.
