NAB decides to file new references against govt officers in Sindh

KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Friday held its Board meeting under the chairmanship of NAB Director General Karachi Altaf Bawany. The meeting was attended by Directors of three Investigation Wings and respective Investigating Teams of concerned cases. After a thorough consultation, the decision to probe various cases was made.

It was decided that a recommendation would be sent to NAB chairman for authorising four investigations against Sindh government functionaries and others regarding re-alignment and construction of Malir River Band for the purpose of housing societies and illegal allotment of land from within Malir Riverbed.

It was discussed that that 307 acres of land were illegally allotted to various beneficiaries in violations of law and rules by way of fresh allotment and exchange after squeezing the boundaries of Malir River.

An investigation was approved for the filing of reference against officers of Dadu District Accounts Office and others on the charges of misappropriation of pension funds allocated to District Dadu. The accused persons have been charged for misappropriation of government funds by cultivating agents and other innocent persons holding CNICs and bank accounts by using their IDs and bank accounts for clearing of fake and bogus pension bills issued by them against bogus government employees of Education and Police Departments. Enquiries against State Bank Cooperative Society’s and Revenue Department’s officers were also.

Bawany, at the end of the Board meeting, said that NAB is committed to initiating corruption cases without any discrimination, treating every citizen of Pakistan at par.  He said NAB has been contributing effectively in recovering government’s rightful assets back to the Sindh government, particularly precious lands that have been subject of usurpation by forgery and other illegal means by government officials in connivance with private persons.
