PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak on Thursday directed the officials concerned to work out a transparent mechanism for the provision of the monthly stipend to pesh imams in mosques throughout the province per the provincial cabinet decision.
He was presiding over a meeting at the Chief Minister House Peshawar. Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs Haji Habibur Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary Shehzad Bangash, administrative secretaries and others also attended the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed the process and requirements for payment of monthly stipends to pesh imams of mosques and the mode of payment to be adopted in this regard.
The chief minister said that the provincial cabinet had already approved payment of monthly stipend to pesh imams throughout the province and the relevant department should finalise the process of payment at the earliest.
We have to develop the whole mechanism of payment in accordance with the law, he added.
Khattak regretted the fact that certain quarters were criticising his government, despite the fact that the step was aimed to ensure the welfare and development of pesh imams in the province.
