SARGODHA: A recent screening of the people in the Kot Imrana locality has revealed at least 100 more people have been tested positive for HIV/AIDS, according to a private media outlet.

The neighbourhood came in the limelight after a recent screening by the health department had found 37 people to be carriers of HIV/AIDS virus, after which a special centre had been set up at the Kot Momin Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

The virus carriers are provided free treatment and counselling in the hospital, according to District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Nusrat Riaz.

He told the publication that the disease had mainly spread in the area due to the use of one syringe on multiple by a local quack. According to him, Dr Sikandar Hayat Warraich was supervising the dedicated unit set up at the Sargodha District Headquarters Teaching Hospital.

He said the health department was serving better than private hospitals. He said that special incentives had been given to doctors working in remote areas.
