KARACHI: Former police inspector Shoaib ‘Shooter’, considered a close aide of sacked Malir SSP Rao Anwar, was on Wednesday declared a proclaimed absconder by an anti-terrorism court.
During the hearing of the kidnapping-for-ransom case, the ATC was told that Shoaib had demanded Rs0.6 million to free an abducted Karachi resident, identified as Sharif. Despite the payment of ransom, the accused did not release Sharif, the investigation officer said.
The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Shoaib and adjourned the hearing till April 8.
The Sindh High Court is also hearing a petition seeking Sharif’s recovery.
