ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday hailed the performance of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in ensuring peace in the society, saying the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was equipping police with modern technology to enhance their performance.

“We are proud of the role being played by the police to eliminate terrorism in Pakistan,” the interior minister said while addressing a Police Expo in Islamabad.

Iqbal said on the occasion that the entire nation saluted the martyrs of the police force, adding the force did a commendable job despite having limited resources.

The minister also said that Pakistan had successfully fought the war against terrorism. He claimed that now a citizen was more independent and confident as compared to the past.

Further, he said technology had become a vital and integral part of everyday life. Therefore, the police force was also being equipped with modern technology to enhance its efficiency and robustness, he added.

He stressed the need of coupling higher education with technology-specific education to fully harness the potential of modern gadgetry. He said mutual cooperation between police and universities would prove vital in this connection.

Moreover, the federal minister said it had become a challenge for everyone to constantly adapt to the latest technological requirements. In conclusion, he said the youth were the guarantors of Pakistan’s bright future and the government would invest on their education.
