KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the counsel representing the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Amir Khan as he did not turn up in a double murder case.

A division bench was hearing the plea of Amir who was awarded 10-year imprisonment by the ATC in MQM-P workers’ murder case at the time he was serving as central leader of Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi.

In Tuesday’s hearing, the court came down hard on the lawyer when it learned that the accused was not present.

The bench was informed that Amir was engaged in Islamabad where the case regarding MQM-P convenership is being heard by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

“He may be an important part of his party but here is an accused. This is the last warning. We will recall the bail granted to him earlier, if he fails to appear in the next hearing,” one of the judges od the benched said.

Directing the MQM-P leader to ensure his presence on April 2, the court put off the hearing till then.
