BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday claimed that his party, the PML-N, was not allowed to serve the nation in its four-year tenure and vowed to rebel against the “anti-democratic” norms prevalent in the country for 70 years.

Addressing a public rally in Bahawalpur, the ousted premier reiterated that he would not allow anyone to mess around with the sanctity of the vote.

“Several wrong policies were made during last 70 years that damaged the system,” he said, adding that however, now, steps should be taken to change the old policies. “I raise my voice against old and wrong policies,” he said, adding that he would introduce new policies to ensure the provision of justice to masses.

While apprising attendants about the power cuts back in 2013, he stated that unhindered electricity is being supplied to the industrial sector and for household purpose across the country. “We took Pakistan out of crises and broke the backbone of terrorists. “Apart from our government, no other government laid down a network of roads across the country,” Nawaz boasted of his party’s macro-development policies.

He said that he had been working for a bright future for the youth. “I will continue working for bright future and development of youth,” the ex-premier said. He also promised to introduce motorway and metro bus projects for Bahawalpur if the party wins general polls in 2018.

Lambasting July 28 verdict in Panama Papers case, Nawaz stated that he was ousted merely on the basis of not receiving a salary from his son. The Supreme Court in July 2017 had disqualified Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers verdict for not being honest under the Article 62(I)(f) of the Constitution.

‘IMRAN SURRENDERED TO ZARDARI’:

Addressing the crowd before her father, Maryam Nawaz bashed the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for entering into “alliance” with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in a bid to deprive the PML-N of the top slots of the upper house.

She said that Imran has hostility with Nawaz Sharif but a surrender has been made before Asif Ali Zardari”, Maryam taunted while adding that “such plots will only strengthen Nawaz Sharif”.

“Imran was crying hoarse his senators were sold to the PPP now he has donated all his senators to Zardari,” said Maryam, adding that the “true leaders” do not sell their votes “in open market” when in their interest.

Maryam had earlier addressed a social media convention in Faisalabad wherein she based the corruption proceedings against Nawaz and termed the Panama Leaks joint investigation team (JIT) ‘jewels’.

She had said Nawaz Sharif was being tried for the fifth time, but the corruption of even a single penny was not proved against him. He was probably the only person in the ‘world who had been convicted without any proof of corruption’, she had added.
