Says looters of national resources now speak of eliminating corruption
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said that due to the untiring efforts of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, the people were now free of the menace of the energy crisis.
“When we came to power in 2013, the people were suffering because of load-shedding being carried out for 20 hours a day. Regrettably, the past rulers did nothing for the energy projects except making false promises. Taking stock of the situation, our government completed different energy projects with accelerated speed and maintained transparency and high-quality as well. Now the menace of load-shedding has become a thing of the past,” said Shehbaz while adding that a new example was set by completing energy projects in a record period of time and saving billions of rupees.
The chief minister said that incumbent government removed darkness from the country by completing different energy generation schemes and the credit of overcoming the load-shedding was yet another jewel in the PML-N government’s crown. He also said that the process of industrial development would be expedited owing to the overcoming of the energy crisis and it would also broaden the prospects of employment.
Shehbaz regretted that the elements that had a ‘habit of telling lies’ compounded the problems of the people by hindering the energy projects, and pointed out that such elements were unsuccessful to even produce a single megawatt of electricity in their province.
“The claimants of ‘producing 74 megawatts of electricity’ should also practically prove this claim before the people,” he said. The chief minister added that even though the elements playing politics of negativity made several attempts to hinder projects of public interest, the electricity generation projects were completed in a record period of time.
Chief Minister Shehbaz said that the Sahiwal project was a new world record with regard to its speedy completion and highlighted that the project of this production capacity was not completed at such a speed even in China.
“The project has not only broken the Chinese, but the world record as well because no 1320-megawatt project has ever been completed in such a short period of time,” he said.
Shehbaz said that the PML-N leadership saved the nation from darkness and wrote a new history of hard work, trust and honesty.
He also said that Pakistan was looted mercilessly in the past and the looters of national resources were now speaking of eliminating corruption from the society. “There were people who got their loans worth billions of rupees written-off, obstructed the process of national development through sit-ins and brought the country to the brink of collapse. Those who stood in the way of national development and mercilessly plundered the money of the people should peep into their own conscience,” said the chief minister.
