New PPP Senators offer prayers at Bhutto graves in Larkana

LARKANA: Seven recently elected Senators from the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) visited the Bhutto mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Buksh on Friday.

The group included Dr Sikander Mandhro, Imam-ud-din Shouqeen, Muhammad Ali Shah Jamote, Anwar Laldin, Rukhsana Zuberi, Krishna Kolhi and Qurat-ul-Ain Mari. They offered prayers and laid floral wreaths at the graves of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto and other martyrs.

While talking to media Mandhro said that they are thankful to PPP’s leadership who gave them tickets and got workers like them elected all the way to Senate.

He said that their first priority is to serve the masses across Pakistan as it was Bhutto’s dream that the poor are able to have three meals a day, development takes place, peace be maintained and that justice prevails in the country. He added that they will convert our sorrows into our power.

To a question Mandhro replied that no horse-trading took place, adding that the elected senators had neither seen any horse nor any trading.

“We don’t give media any importance about Asif Zardari’s alleged involvement in horse-trading. We are workers and are bound by the decisions made by our leadership. We are electing our Senate chairman to change the fate of the country’s poverty-stricken people,” said Mandhro.

He also said that priorities of capitalists and ‘Jagirdars’ are different as they are always thinking of enhancing their business empires as it can be seen these days.

He further added that we need a person who strengthens democracy and works for provincial autonomy.

A large number of party activists were also present to shower rose petals over the new senators besides presenting them with the traditional Sindhi cap and Ajrak, however, they clearly lacked proper discipline as all of them wanted to be in the forefront and limelight during media talk, as well as, on the graves so that their leaders would notice. Most of them also wasted a lot of time in taking selfies with the Senators.

The Senators faced a tough situation when their own activists started pushing them from behind while they offered prayers at the graves of their leaders.

Aijaz Leghari, Khair Muhammad Shaikh, Noor-ud-din Abro, Ahad Jamal Dawoodpoto, Arshad Shah Rashidi and others were also present on the occasion.
