KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) the other day had directed police officials to provide protection to Zulekha and Ali Akbar who are allegedly facing life threats as they had married without parents’ permission.

The newlywed couple of district Sajawal approached the high court, submitting that they had contracted free-will marriage but the girl’s family did not accept it. The court was informed that Zulekha’s father had got the fake case registered against Ali for kidnapping his daughter.

The couple requested the SHC to order their protection and quash the kidnapping case registered against Ali registered at a local police station. Zulekha informed the judges that she was neither kidnapped nor she was forced to marry Ali, adding that she had married with her will.

The court directed police officials to provide protection to the couple and not to take any coercive action Ali.
