PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday asked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to frame rules barring TV channels from airing gruesome pictures and videos related to incidents of terrorism, reported a local English newspaper.

A two-member bench consisting of Justice Qaiser Rasheed and Justice Mussarat Halali also ordered the directors of public hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to ensure that the treatment of injured people is not disturbed by the visits of VIPs, including politicians, after the incidents of terrorism.

The court ordered the TV channels to follow ethical principles by not telecasting grisly pictures and videos.

  1. Our electronic media is the most important part of our society. But like most such bodies it is full of uneducated people including the owners and the Staff. They are unfamiliar with their responsibility. Infact they have no clue how to organise this most sensitive sector of our society. Their total concentration is on showing ads with mostly women who are always seminude. Then the so-called morning shows with similar approach. Nothing is shown that relates to majority of our society. The fake journalists are in abundance who cannot speak without interjecting ‘ JO HAY’. This electronic media is doing big harm to Pakistan. Money is their godfather and laundering is their employers godfather.

  2. Our Electronic Media is so involved in making money through ads and Political bribery that it ignored a very valuable news about few young men and women running a “Rizq” foundation for the poor and under privileged. But no Media in Pakistan took it with the attention it deserved. This is the ugly reflection of the media I talked about. VOA informed Pakistanis about this. Shame on our Media.
