Speaker calls for legislation for women’s welfare

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the role of women in development is very important to achieve the goal of prosperity.

In his message on the occasion of International Women’s Day, he said that the women in the world were facing enormous discrimination and they were forced to live miserable lives. He stressed on unilateral attempts and legislation for the welfare of womenfolk.

“Islam gives women respect and equal rights but unfortunately, the women are facing health, education and job issues in our society. Until we give women their legal rights, progress in the field of the economy would remain a dream,” he added.

Ayaz Sadiq further emphasised to change negative views regarding women and highlighted the role of women in Pakistan. He said that women in National Assembly were playing an active role in legislation, and the Constitution gave them rights to choose education, work and social activity at their will.
