LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Sarwar has demanded the authorities to change the procedure of electing Senators.

Talking to media, he demanded a new method to hold Senate elections, clarifying that he did not indulge in malpractice to be elected as PTI’s only Senator from Punjab.

“I’ve grabbed victory in Senate elections by employing the method of integration and honesty,” he said at a seminar on International Women’s Day at a private university in Lahore.

“Punjab law minister also said money was not used in Senate elections in Punjab,” he further stated.

Talking about the external relations of Pakistan with the countries, Sarwar said the government had failed to make the world acknowledge the sacrifices of Pakistan in the war on terror due to the incompetence of rulers.

He suggested that rule of law in the country could be established by applying transparency at all levels. “Those who abuse the NAB, Supreme Court and other national institutions should not let go … in order to mitigate national crisis of terrorism, bad governance and unemployment, across the board accountability is essential to bring change,” he stated.

He went on to say that he will go to Supreme Court if summoned to submit proofs of renunciation of nationality. Sarwar hoped that his party would bring the change if PTI comes to power after the 2018 general elections.

On women’s rights, he stated that the issue of forced marriages is a menace to the society and it should be eradicated.
