NAB tightens noose around POs, shares list with agencies

QUETTA: Balochistan National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started tightening the noose around the culprits involved in corruption and has shared a list of the proclaimed offenders (POs) with agencies and other relevant departments for their early arrest.

On the directives of Balochistan NAB Director General Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig, intelligence team headed by Sheikh Mohammad and Saqib Siddiq has constituted various teams to trace the proclaimed offenders and other culprits wanted in different corruption-related cases at the earliest.

Intelligence team has also shared a list of the POs with the intelligence agencies and officers of other departments concerned for prompt action against the culprits with serious corruption charges.

DG Mirza Mohammad Irfan Baig has vowed to speed up concerted efforts for speedy completion of cases initiated by the bureau.

“In line with the vision of NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal, all out efforts are being made to not only complete the cases within the stipulated time frame but also to bring the proclaimed offenders to the task,” he maintained.

Separately, Multan NAB has arrested four accused persons in an investigation against developer and sponsors of Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme Naseer Ahmed Khan Tabassum and others, in Kabirwala, Khanewal, for cheating the public at large.

According to details, a complaint was submitted by 20 persons, alleging the accused persons for cheating them under the business name Nasir Garden Housing Scheme in 2006. Later, the housing scheme was renamed to Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme Phase III, Kabirwala, Khanewal.

Subsequently, more complainants approached the bureau and submitted their complaints and claims. The accused, in connivance and collusion with each other, cheated 99 persons for an amount of over Rs100 million.

The accused, without obtaining NOC from authorities concerned, started the housing scheme and kept collecting money from the general public till their arrest. Accused Naseer Ahmed Khan Tabassum, Nasir Ahmed Khan and Rana Muhammad Qasim were land suppliers while Mian Iftikhar was the developer for Gulshan Mehr Ali Housing Scheme Phase III.

All the four accused have been luring public and marketing an unregistered housing scheme and collecting money. For a long time, the accused failed to complete the requisite requirement of minimum land, documentation and legal formalities for approval to establish the housing scheme. All the four accused will be produced before Multan Accountability Court judge on March 8.
