ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) started surveys of different National Assembly (NA) constituencies especially in Punjab before the general elections to know its political position.
According to the survey conducted by Institute of Public Opinion and Research (IPOR) in NA-53 Rawalpindi, where former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was defeated by Ghulam Sarwar Khan of PTI in the general elections of 2013, 71 per cent people would vote for Chaudhry Nisar if he contests on the PML-N ticket while 57 per cent people would favour him if he contests the election as an independent candidate.
Regarding a query about the next prime minister of the country, 20 per cent people of the area supported PML-N Acting President Shehbaz Sharif, 22 per cent people voted in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan while 11 per cent electorates voted in favour of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The PML-N leadership conveyed the survey report to Jati Amra while its copy was available with party leader Senator Asif Kirmani.
The voters of the constituency described sewerage and sanitation as the major issue of the area.
41 per cent people of the area expressed their decision of voting for PML-N in the coming general elections, 37 per cent said they would vote for PTI, 2 per cent were in favour of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), 1 per were in favour of Tehreek-e-Labbak Pakistan (TLP) and 4 per cent said that they would vote independent candidates.
According to the survey report, in 2013 general elections 46 per cent had voted for PTI, 32 per cent voted for PML-N, 3 per cent voted for PPP and 1 per cent had voted for Jamat-e-Islami (JI).
