Shehbaz not happy with Hamza’s performance in Senate elections: report

LAHORE: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) interim president Shehbaz Sharif is reportedly not happy with his son Hamza Shahbaz due to his underperformance in the Senate polls for Punjab.

A media report claimed although the PML-N decided to play down losing one Senate seat in Punjab to Chaudhry Sarwar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), there is a definite resent among the top hierarchy.

“Shahbaz Sharif is not happy with his son’s performance. So is uncle (Nawaz) and cousin Maryam,” a PML-N legislator revealed.

It was told that the ex-PM’s daughter Maryam Nawaz had anticipated a clean sweep in the Senate elections in Punjab. “Now all want answers from ‘Hamza and company’ as to why the party lost the Senate seat to the former governor of Punjab whose party had only 30 seats,” the source added.

As a result of Sarwar’s victory, the PML-N’s UK chapter head Zubair Gul –who usually looks after the Sharif family during their stay in London – failed to secure his seat in the upper house of parliament.
