Islamabad traffic police introduce digital challan

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad traffic police (ITP) has introduced a paper-free digital challan in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan and JS Bank.

Under the arrangement, digital challans will be issued by traffic officials through smartphones and violators will receive challan notifications through SMS on the other end. Violators will have multiple options to pay against the challan including branchless banking Infrastructure of different mobile money schemes including JS Bank connected to NBP payment aggregator.

Initially, the service is enabled through agent network of JS Bank alongside mobile wallets, however, the same service will be activated through alternate delivery channels of NBP and other mobile money schemes including Easypaisa and Jazzcash.

Speaking about this Sultan Azam Temuri, Islamabad IG said, “We are moving aggressively towards the vision of digital policing in Islamabad to ensure public convenience and raising our standards at international level. This is a massive step towards digital policing in Islamabad as it offers a suite of services in addition to digital challan generation and fee collection system.”

“This system in total offers digitisation in six categories to make ITP Pakistan’s first completely paperless and digital force,” he added.
