Iran urges dialogue among Syrians to settle crisis

The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said here Monday that dialogue among the Syrian political groups is the requirement for the peace in the Arab State.
In the meantime, measures should be adopted to halt the arms supply to the opposition groups and terrorists which is necessary to restore security and stability in Syria, Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
He also criticized what he called the West’s ignorance of Saudi-led military raid against Yemen and West’s double-standard policy over the humanitarian crisis in the Arab state.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday urged Iran to put “necessary pressure” on the Syrian government to halt military actions in the rebel-held enclave of Eastern Ghouta.
Macron made his remarks during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rohani.
Macron said France expected “a constructive contribution by Iran to regional de-escalation and the resolution of crises in the Middle East,” said the statement.
