LAHORE: A new package has been introduced by the Punjab government to assist the families of civil servants who die while in service, according to a local English daily.
This package comes after the death of two senior officers — one of PMS and the other of PAS— while in service. An additional Rs15 million has been given to each family as a one-time grant to assist the construction of their houses.
This package has remotely been designed on the pattern of the Shuhada Package which was introduced for policemen who died fighting terrorists. It was given after DIG Traffic retired Capt Ahmed Mubeen, acting DIG Operations Zahid Ikram Gondal and some others died as the result of a suicide blast at Lahore’s Charing Cross early last year.
