ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday observed that when the Supreme Court issues directions about something, it is said that “our work is being interfered with”.

The chief justice gave these remarks while hearing suo moto case of deforestation in Margalla Hills, Islamabad.

CJP Nisar further said that authorities who are responsible to do this have failed in their duty. “If you are here to serve the common people then do it. But it is said that judiciary is interfering in the domain of executive,” he remarked.

During the hearing, the chief justice regretted that Islamabad authorities do not set rules regarding the cutting of trees in Margalla Hills National park.

Earlier, the top court had summoned Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, an elected representative from the capital and state minister for Capital Administration and Development Division in this case.
