RAWALPINDI: The lists of verified voters will be displayed at prominent places, including offices of registration officers, assistant registration officers and display centres, in the district on March 6 (Tuesday).
Rawalpindi Election Commissioner Malik Saleem Akhtar, while talking to media persons, said that the list would be displayed or around a month.
Akhtar said that around 40 days would be given to citizens from March 6 to April 14 for disposal of claims/objections and submission of applications for corrections. The final lists would be displayed on April 30 at the District Election Commission office.
He further said that the voters’ verification process was being completed to finalise arrangements for the upcoming general elections. All-out efforts would be made to complete the campaign by April 30, he added.
According to District Election Commission Office, at the moment, there were over 2.95 million registered voters in Rawalpindi district, including 1.57 million men and 1.37 women. The voters’ list would include the names of new voters, while the names of those people who have died would be removed from the electoral lists.
As many as 29 assistant registration officers and 2,221 verification officers had been assigned the task. The first phase of the drive, including verification of new CNIC holders and deceased voters, was completed between January 15 to February 8.
Meanwhile, the process of data entry of verified new CNIC holders and deceased voters, along with adjustment of affected census blocks at the district level with the assistance of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), was completed between February 9 to February 18.
The task of data processing and printing of updated electoral rolls was ongoing and would be completed by March 5 (Monday). During the campaign, special focus was paid on the registration of women, persons with disabilities and transgenders.
