SHEIKHUPURA: Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Sunday termed the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate polls as a victory for democracy and the people of Pakistan.

Talking to media persons in the NA 132 constituency, he said that the sweeping victory of PML-N in the Senate elections had dealt a big blow to the plotters. He said the most notorious political ‘conspiracy king’ was now hiding behind his blatant lies and absurd propaganda. He added that PML-N had emerged as the single largest party in the Senate polls and hoped that the next Senate chairman would also be elected from the ruling party.

On the occasion, the defence production minister inaugurated different development projects in the above-mentioned constituency, including a water filtration plant, gas supply pipeline and road construction in the remote areas of UC 31 Faizpur Khurd.

PML-N candidate for PP 165 Mian Abdur Rauf, media coordinator Nadeem Goraya, UC Faizpur Khurd Chairman Malik Zaheer Ahmed, leaders of PML-N Hakeem Saleemullah, Chaudhary Shahbaz, and Malik Nadeem Mehmood were also present.

“Where are the perpetrators who mocked Senate elections and created doubts about the entire process?” Tanveer lashed out at political rivals. He boasted about the performance of his government and said, “Our government has brought peace and stability in the disturbed regions of the country, especially Karachi and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. We are proud that we have fulfilled our promises that we made during our previous election campaign in 2013.”

Further, he said that it was a sign of the ‘Day of Judgement’ that a corruption icon like Asif Ali Zardari was speaking against corruption, even when his name was synonymous with the term ‘Mr 10 per cent’ for looting the resources and wealth of Pakistan. He said Zardari should be held accountable for his notorious past.

Tanveer alleged that PML-N was being victimised by those who feared open competition with the party in the upcoming general polls. He said that his party would once again score a victory in the elections and take forward the development dream of the country.
