Senate elections a victory of democratic process: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that holding of Senate elections is a victory for the whole nation and the democratic process in Pakistan.

In an interview with Pakistan Television (PTV), she said that holding of Senate elections was the top priority of the government. She said that the results of the elections have not only earned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) a huge victory but was also a great victory for the democratic people of Pakistan.

Aurangzeb also said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s absence in the Senate elections showed that he did not support democracy in the country.

Talking about the overall performance of the incumbent government, she said 11000 megawatts (MW) of electricity had been added to the national grid due to which load shedding in the country had been reduced to a great extent.
