PML-N’s win in Senate polls thwarted opponents’ designs: MPAs

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) members of provincial assembly (MPAs) on Saturday said the party candidates’ victories in the Senate elections “thwarted all designs of the opponents.”

Speaking to media persons after exercising their right to vote at the assembly chambers, PML-N MPA from PP-133 Maulana Ghayasud Din said the PML-N was emerging as a stronger party every day. He said the Senate elections would further strengthen the political position of the party.

“Our candidates for the Senate seats from Punjab have won their seats, and the announcement of results is just a formality,” he said. To a question, he said the newly-elected Senators had complete confidence in the PML-N leadership.

MPA Rana Abdul Mannan from PP-134 said that everyone was committed to voting for his or her party. He said the PML-N’s performance had been “matchless in all sectors.”

He said the success of the party in the Senate elections was another feather in the PML-N’s cap and the opposition had high hopes regarding the Senate elections, but they failed to achieve their objectives.

He also said the PML-N’s success in the Senate elections would have a very positive impact on the general elections.

Praising the PML-N MPAs, he further said that they “did not surrender before any pressure from the opposition and used their right to vote as per their conscience.”
