ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Human Rights (MOHR) has received only 26 per cent (Rs80.25 million) funds from the total amount of Rs306 million reserved for its six projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2017-18.
Funds have not been released for projects including acquisition of land and construction of building for National Institute of Human Rights in Islamabad for which total amount of Rs112 million was reserved. Also, the construction of a hostel for the working women in G-6/2 and G-7/3 sectors of Islamabad, for which an amount of Rs100 million was allocated, has also not started due to the same reasons.
However, on the other hand, a total amount earmarked for the projects of Helpline for Legal Advice on Human Rights Violations and Institutional Strengthening of Ministry of Human Rights with an estimated cost of Rs25 million and Rs30million respectively have been released in three quarters.
It is pertinent to mention here that last year, an amount of Rs250 million was reserved for the construction of building for National Institute of Human Rights in Islamabad while Rs261.3 million was allocated for construction of the hostel for working women.
The money was surrendered due to the inefficiency of the department to complete the initial work for the issuance of funds in time.
