NAB arrest accused in Modaraba case
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has arrested Yasir Aziz in Modaraba case on the charges of corruption and cheating public at large in the ploy of Islamic mode of investment.
As per details, the accused was involved in cheating by taking money from people for investment. The accused acted as finance secretary of M/s Elixir Group and signed the Modaraba namas issued by the director Shahid Aziz (brother of Yasir Aziz).
Some victims alleged that the accused Yasir Aziz took the money from them and gave it to his brother who misappropriated the money. Yasir Aziz also tried to sell the properties of accused Shahid Aziz.
NAB Rawalpindi Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi said that the NAB was committed to eradicating corruption from the country under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Javed Iqbal so that the motherland could achieve the dream of corruption-free Pakistan.
Considering corruption as a cancer, the NAB has chalked out a comprehensive National Anti-Corruption strategy to eradicate corruption across the board by adopting ‘Accountability for All’ policy as the figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations have almost doubled as compared to the same period of 2017 to 2018.
The comparative figures for the last one year are indicative of hard work being put in by all ranks of NAB officers/staff in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism, where fight against corruption is being taken as a national duty.
This was state by NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. He said that NAB was trying to come up to the expectations of the nation in order to eradicate corruption with iron hands and directed all NAB officers/officials to strictly follow rules and regulations on merit and transparency according to law. He said that NAB’s Forensic Science Lab which has facilities of digital forensics, questioned documents and fingerprint analysis should be utilised for inquiries and investigations in order to further improve the quality of investigations.
He said that Transparency International (TI), PILDAT and World Economic Forum have appreciated NAB’s efforts in eradication of corruption. He said NAB in a very short span of two years has established over 55000 character building societies in universities/colleges to create awareness against corruption which has proved very successful and now young generation was also on board and has joined hands with NAB to eradicate corruption from the country.
