RAWALPINDI: National Highways and Motorway (NH&MP) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Shaikh Muhammad Umar said on Sunday that since the jurisdiction of the motorway police has been expanded, an additional 5,000 new recruitments would be made soon to keep the roads safe for the public.

Talking to media persons here, he said, “CPEC is a mega-development initiative and a game changer for Pakistan and for the region as well.” He further added, “The project is a good example of friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. It would serve as the lifeline of our national economy.”

The DIG said that motorway police had always been an exception for its honesty, courtesy, and professionalism. It is due to their proactive approach and spirit to help the people in distress which made this organisation prominent, he added.

He further said that the rate of accidents on roads had dropped considerably in the recent past. He also said that road safety was being given special importance. Different methods like lectures at educational institutions, factories, bus stands, media forums, workshops, walks, rallies and seminars, would be organised throughout the country to educate road users about traffic rules.

Umar also said that an e-ticketing system had already been launched by NH&MP, which would bring a great change inside the department and on the roads. This new system would also enhance public trust level in the police.

  1. Good to see young female cop handing out violation ticket to car driver. Pakistan needs more young energetic passionate cops to tackle violation and crime.
