PPP MPA Qaimkhani’s 16-year-old son dies in Karachi car accident


KARACHI: 16-year-old son of a Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Sindh was killed in a road accident on Friday that took place in Karachi.

According to initial reports, the SUV of Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani’s son was headed speedily on Sea View Road when it overturned upon collision near Village Restaurant.

Police and rescue officials arrived at the site instantly and shifted Hamza Qaimkhani to a private hospital. While Hamza succumbed to injuries, another person accompanying him in the car was critically injured but survived.

Sahil police station SHO Shoaib-ur-Rehman said, “The boys were in the speeding vehicle when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.”

Rehman pointed out that the case is still under investigation as different angles need to be studied.

Hamza’s friend Afsaryab Khan is undergoing medical treatment Clifton’s South City Hospital.

PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari expressed their grief over Hamza’s demise.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial took notice of the matter and visited Qaimkhani’s residence to offer their condolences. The home minister directed Karachi DIG Traffic to submit a report of the incident.

PPP leader Qaimkhani was elected to the provincial assembly in 2013 from Karachi. She became a member of the Sindh cabinet in July 2013.
