While Martin Guptill and Lendl Simmons were the biggest picks in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018 drafts, numerous Pakistani cricketers were either retained by their franchises from the previous year or moved into a new one.

Fast-bowlers from Pakistan remained in high demand in CPL draft. Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan will play from Barbados Tridents. Wahab was signed by Tridents for $40,000 while $30,000 was paid to bid for Junaid, according to reports.

Being one of first 10 new picks in CPL 2018, Rumman Raees was signed by St Lucia Stars for $70,000. Guyana Amazon Warriors have retained their premier pacer Sohail Tanvir for a whopping USD 160,000. Tanvir is among those players paid the maximum prices by their franchises.

As a gift one his 38th birthday, Jamaica Tallawahs retained Shahid Afridi for USD 130,000, the same bid used to move Shoaib Malik to Warriors this year. Malik previously played for Tridents in CPL 2017.

Shadab Khan was also retained by Trinbago Knight Riders for the same amount as last year – $30,000. Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim will play from Tallawahs at a price of $110.

Chris Gayle (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots), Andre Russell (Tallawahs) and Dwayne Bravo (Knight Riders) have all been retained for $160,000. Excluding those retained, Kieron Pollard was one of the biggest earners who has been picked by Stars in this year’s edition for USD 130,000.
