Punjab govt has discovered new horizons in health sector: Kh Salman

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SH&ME) Kh. Salman Rafique said that present government has discovered new horizons in the field of health & new initiatives have been taken for the Health Sector development. He said that IT-based key performance indicators made the healthcare monitoring system foolproof.

The Minister said that international symposiums not only give a chance to local learned professionals to share their experiences but also give ample opportunity to listen to internationally based high skilled professionals who have gained diverse knowledge within their respective specialties. He further said that provision of good quality medical facilities to the people is the priority of the government.

He stated this while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day thirteenth annual scientific symposium of Institute of Child Health & Children Hospital. The minister said that under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif special attention is being paid to improving health sector day by day & health facilities have been enhanced across the province.

Earlier, Dean Children Hospital Professor Masood Sadiq in his welcome address said that the children hospital has become the largest treatment centre for the children globally.

He said that eleven hundred beds hospital is providing best treatment facilities to the children of not only four provinces of Pakistan but the patients also coming from Afghanistan for treatment & the doctors, nurses & allied health professionals catering a lot of patient load & their services are commendable.

Professor Masood Sadiq further said that according to the directions of the CM Shahbaz Sharif, all the treatment facilities are being provided free of cost to the patients. He said that the institute of child health is providing educational & training facilities for post-graduation & super specialties. Moreover, nursing & allied health professional schools have also become centre of excellence. Professor Dr Masood Sadiq informed that the Institute of Child Health is producing highly educated/trained Human Resource for whole Pakistan.

The inaugural ceremony of the thirteenth symposium was attended by the vice-chancellors of medical universities, principals of Medical Colleges, retired professors, medical teachers, President Pakistan Paediatric Society Professor Rai Asghar, Medical Director Professor Muhammad Saleem, faculty members, former Deans of the Children Hospital & a large number of doctors & nurses.

Two days symposium would continue till Saturday evening during which local & guest speakers from abroad would present their research papers & deliver lectures to the participants of technical sessions.

Technical workshops would also be organised, the officials said.

Later Kh Salman Rafique inaugurated the Hybrid Cathlab established in the hospital at a cost of Rs. 100 million. The Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed auditorium of the hospital.
