HYDERABAD: The Sindh police on Friday claimed to foil a terrorist plot after arresting eight alleged terrorists during a raid at suburbs of Hyderabad.
According to official sources, after receiving the intelligence-based tip-off about the presence of militant hideout near Hyatri bypass, the police carried out the raid.
The terrorists were arrested during the raid and shifted to an undisclosed location, the police officials said.
Furthermore, the police seized 10 kilograms of explosive material, Kalashnikovs, pistols, and other illegal weapons in terrorists’ custody.
The officials have said that arrested terrorists belonged to a banned militant organization and were planning terror attacks across the country, mainly targetting Friday prayers.
On February 21, Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three alleged terrorists during a raid in Mughalpura area of Lahore.
The arrested militants had links with the international terrorist organisation, Islamic State (IS), the CTD officials stated.
