ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly was prorogued sine die on Friday without taking its scheduled business amidst lawmakers’ protest against the inclusion of the oath-taking of a jailed member-elect on the orders of the day.
The parliamentary leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Qaumi Watan Party-Sherpao (QWP-S), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) attended the sitting. Two minority lawmakers were present during the sitting.
A lawmaker raised a point of order which consumed three minutes of the proceedings. The treasury and opposition lawmakers jointly staged a protest against including the oath-taking of a minority member-elect on the orders of the day.
The chair announced adjournment of the session immediately due to lack of quorum during the sitting.
